Entry into occupied area

Postby M4ri4z » Sun May 18, 2008 4:23 pm

Hi Guys, can anybody give correct info? My late Dad was from the village of Vokolida. I want to scatter his ashes in this area. Am I allowed to access this part of the island? I live in Wales, UK, have a British passport. I was told that I could face problems with entry/exit due to my greek/cypriot surname!! Can anyone clarify what procedure is? Thanx loads.

Nothing will happen jeez. Loads of Greek Cypriot passes to the Turkish side. You won't face any problems or racism (which is what we face on your side).

Do you want to clarify on what you state above?

She is asking if she is allowed to cross to the Turkish side, of course she is! and She will not face any problems either.

No wonder people are concrned about any possible issues they may encounter in the North. She only asked a SIMPLE question, in her first post, at a time when she is possibly still in mourning.

Maybe when she does visit NC she won't encounter other miserable bell-ends like you (but I wouldn't be so sure!)

I would welcome her when she comes, and even show her the village.

Besides I only said not to be scared, and nothing will happen. As I told you many times before over 80% want unification.

I crossed over at the Ledra Street crossing a couple of weeks ago. There was a steady stream of people crossing over, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots and foreigners. There have been millions of entries by Greek Cypriots into the north since the crossings opened five years ago, with very few incidents. I do not think you will experience any problems whatsoever. The whole of Cyprus is certainly much safer than the UK nowadays.

Just playing with the calculator (whilst doing some work  ) ... and I've come up with the following shocking number ....

If the UK had the equivalent per capita number of Turkish troops as currently occupy Cyprus ..... that would be:

.... nearly ONE QUARTER MILLION TURKISH SOLDIERS
