Sounds like Chatista where the singer makes up the words of his story as it unfolds. My mother-in-law's family came from Louroudjina and their family name was Mbichakas (Big Knives). The Chatista is still done in some places, but I think it is slowly dying out and only performed at special concerts like Larnaca Seafront for instance and possibly other shows and exhibitions.

The real thing is still lived out in the tavernas in Louroujina to this day ;)

Interesting! The issue is not what type of songs they sing but the fact that old folk in this village carry on a tradition that is dying in the Greek Cypriot villages.

Why's he behind bars? Is it to stop people throwing things at him because he can't sing?
