Come back and ask me again in another 4yrs maybe.....

Been here since March 2004 and not been back to UK at all since then.

Am I missing it, or anything there?

Am I hell as like

Wow!! Have you never left this island then juliesewell? Holidays? You lucky enough to have your family with you here?

I have to return home at least twice a year - more if I can get cheap flights. I miss my family, friends and yes, England too much not to. (I have just come back from the UK and missing my family already!)

There are pros and cons for each island and for now, I am happy to divide my time between the two. :)

Bubbles mou I wondered where you were!

I have to say I'm not interested in going to the UK, the only reason I went was for my daughter to see a particular friend but I do have my parents here so this makes a difference and it has only been 10 months for me.

I do think moving to a different country gives you a whole new perspective. You've done it once and the whole world seems more accessible somehow. The UK would never be an option however.

Back in 1961 when I first came to London and fell in love with the city , there were not any traffic wardens to begin with !

Now now Milt, we all know your 'bias' against the good old Traffic Wardens!!

You back in the UK or in Cyprus at the moment - sure you said something about another visit this month?!

Was due to come early this month but not possible , wife in hospital , so will have to wait till she is out .
That's why I was fighting with GR instead !!!

I do hope your dear wife is doing well Milt

Bubbles,

I said we haven't been back to UK since we arrived in March 2004 - not that we haven't left the island :)

We've taken the mini-cruises to Lebanon 3 times (one of those including Syria), also Malta for the last 3yrs for about 5 days or so each time and last year we did 10 nights in Egypt.

The only family we have are y parents, who are still in UK - but they come to Cyprus for a month each November and we go to meet them in Malta when they go there for a month too. We have no other need or desire - to go back for the forseeable future.

Other than my parents, there is nothing in UK that we can't live without and I get so miffed when I hear ex-pats celebrating that Tesco, Sainsburys et al may be coming to Cyprus!

The only thing I can admit to missing out on was a decent Indian takeaway up till about 18 months ago - not such a big deal (my husband makes a mean curry) but that issue is now resolved and we have a very good one in Erimi near the Buccaneer pub

We came here for a change of life and pace. We are not retired, we both work in Cyprus and are enjoying our new life very much. I certainly do not miss the political correctness that appears to have taken over in UK and hope that Cyprus takes a long time to catch up.

We have discussed the possibility that we may not stay forever in Cyprus although it does not feature in any plans for us just yet. But when that time comes, it's more likely we will move elsewhere rather than back to UK.

Hi juliesewell

Thanks for your reply. Hope you do not think that I was being nosey! (suppose I was really!) I do know of some ex-pats who have not left this island in years and years! (Not for me though as above response shows!)

Glad to hear that you are having a great time here and long may it continue!

So, this Indian in Erimi is worth a visit eh? Drove passed that the other day, so may just give it a go. Mind you, if it is not as good as the curry I had at home the other day I am coming through to see your husband (though I have to admit too that Webbo makes a better curry than any we have bought here! :) ) Maybe we should start a 'curry night'! :)

Niki mou, thanks for missing me!!

Agree with you about the outlook on life, but I think that maybe that is another reason why I need to go home on a regular basis. All down to the individual I suppose!

BTW, still not found those sandals - you a size 5 perchance?
