Hi, and welcome to the forum. I think you may find working in construction quite hard as the 'main' Developers in Cyprus mainly employ there own people. There is also alot of Eastern Europeans who will lay bricks for next to nowt!

Do you have land?

There is plenty of land for sale in Cyprus. Advertised in local press, estate agents. If the land has deeds and building permission you are half way there. If you do your homework and get the services of a good lawyer it is a relatively simple process.
Been ripped off is rare, but it can happen, just remember for one dodgy deal there are hundreds that are genuine. Building yourself is a good idea, you will need plans and they will have to be passed but it will save you money in the long run. Renovation of older property is another way forward, and there are grants available from the Cypriot Government.
Building materials are widely available, as always shopping around will get a good deal.
As for work, If you are good builders, set up by yourselves, there will always be work if you are prompt and do a good job.
Good luck, it is all relatively straightforward!!!
