Getting to Paphos

Postby Xybadog » Sun May 11, 2008 9:55 pm

I'll be in Paphos, middle of October (thought I'd give advance warning, in case you wanna book flights out of Cyp  )

I'm travelling on a package, which I don't usually do, only because the price I got it for was less than a one way flight (dropped very lucky). I really hate hanging about waiting for the tourists who have somehow managed to get themselves abucted by aliens somewhere between the arrivals gate and the coach, and their stupid, non-apologetic grins when they finally board after finally being released by ET and his mates.

What i would like to know is how long would a taxi take, and approx how much from Paphos airport to Tomb of the Kings Road in Paphos? If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated.

BTW It really does pay to book early. Saw a holiday in the window of a travel agent this morning, 2 weeks self catering in Crete in August 2009 for £279 each!!!

Taxi's are a big rip off. 40 Euros for Paphos Airport to Tomb of the Kings. It is much cheaper to higher a small car for the day, or even 2 days.

Oh didums Xybadog.
Having to wait for stupid tourists. Try flying 1st Class and ask for help at arrivals. I can also arrange for you to be picked up by a chauffered Merc limo if you have the cash.

You think a hire company is going to be stupid enough to let you rent a car for one day on their daily rate… from the airport... then have to pick it up in Pafos?

True, fair enough.

BUT, you still need to get back to the airport so I reckon taking a car for 3 days would be the cheaper option.

One thing that baffles me, why don't they run a bus service from Paphos Airport to Paphos?

Grump, taxi from Paphos Airport to Pissouri 48 euros. There and back = 96

Our hire care for 8 days is 160 Euros.

Someone is over charging or someone is undercharging.

According to my Cypriot friend, if they laid on a bus service from the airport to Paphos and Limassol the taxi drivers would go out of business.
First they would strike and then the Government would cave in, it would be chaos for one week.

How can it be practical to have a bus service from the airport with the diversity of destinations people would wish to disembark at, the amount of space needed for luggage, the fact that most locals get picked up by friends / relatives and most tourists are on packages with coaches waiting?

It's a wonder the Taxis make any money at all ....
