YKP-population from Turkey a war crime

Postby RAFAELLA » Fri May 09, 2008 3:59 pm

The New Cyprus Party (YKP) organized a panel on the “Population structure in north Cyprus” and calls the transfer of population from Turkey “war crime”

Turkish Cypriot weekly Yeni Cag newspaper (09.05.08 ) reports that the New Cyprus Party (YKP) organized a panel discussion on Thursday about the “Population structure in north Cyprus”. The common conclusion which came out of the Panel, which took place at the Arabahmet Culture Center in occupied Lefkosia, was that “the population which was brought from Turkey was aimed at changing the democratic structure in north Cyprus, it is in violation of the Geneva Convention and the International Law and this action is a war crime.

The persons who addressed the Panel were Albay Durduran, the Foreign Relations Secretary of YKP, Mete Hatay, researcher of the International Peace Research Institute, Dr Mehmet Hasguler and the Sociologist- Researcher Muharrem Faiz.

Speaking at the Panel Mr Durduran stated:
“The population which is nearly 590 thousands at this point constitute the biggest obstacle in front of the solution of the Cyprus problem”.

On his part, Mr Hatay stated: “An important part of the population which was brought to Cyprus, are the people whose houses were flooded under the water dams which were built in Turkey”.

Researcher Mr Hasguler said: “Today Cyprus is still under the status of ceasefire and the transfer of population is against the international law and constitutes an obstacle to the Turkish Cypriots’ self determination”.

Finally, Mr Faiz stated that what is happening is a forced transfer of population which is watering down the democratic and ethnic structure in north Cyprus. (CS)

If one didn't know better, they would think it was Turkey who forced out the TC's in 100,000s who are scattered around the world.

But of course that's not a crime...

I'm surprised VP's TMT Fascist terrorist group have not labeled these people as TRAITORS and brought them in front of the TC's to answer their crimes against the TC Community, just before being executed while VP is counting his ill gotten cash from selling yet another GC property.!!

I guess the day isn't over yet.

And the process of extinction of the T/C continue ... VP doesn't worry , all citizens he say are his people , it ain't so though for the vast majority of T/Cs who are beginning to demand that their voices are heard like the brave Cypriots of The New Cyprus Party . I wonder if they would accept me as a member .

What extinction ? The Tc population according to Mr.Durduran is 590,000.
Perhaps you better define what you regard as a TC so that we can follow your arguments . Do you , for instance , regard the forced emigration of TCs between 1960 to 1974 as part of this process of extinction?

Where did you read that Mr Durduran said the Tc population is 590.000?
In this number the settlers are included, the Tcs who leave in the occupied areas are around 90.000.

Mr Durduran stated: “The population which is nearly 590 thousands at this point constitute the biggest obstacle in front of the solution of the Cyprus problem”.

BILAKO , THE T/Cs ARE SAYING THIS .
The actual number of T/Cs living in Cyprus under Turkish occupation amounts to just under 60 thousand , where on earth do you get the figure of 590000 , unless of course your including the diaspora , the settlers and the Turkish army in Cyprus.
There is as you know a new party in the North , it is wise to listen what they are saying , dont just bury your head in the sand and accept the nonsense by the extremists. The T/Cs ARE A MINORITY IN THE NORTH .FACT !!

Our population is officially 256.000 TCs we do not exclude anyone because they settled here 40 years ago we are all equal under the eyes of the law. This you are diminishing angle does not hold water anymore as we have accepted the TRNC as your country and all that goes with it, whats the alternative a GC state where we are reduced to a minority status and have to accept the dominance and discrimination as administered by a GC state.
