hi , Cyprus over the centuries has been conquered by various countries,
venicians,turks, ect.
As a result of this many things have left an impression on how we talk, live and eat.
Example: We have a huge cusine of various dishes compared to Greece.
We speak with some turkish, italian words in our language.

Not to mention the odd word of English Halloumi...
