Property Protest London during President Christofias’ visit

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Postby tessintrnc » Tue May 20, 2008 4:22 pm

Conor, as an EU citizen, who bought a property in an EU country has every right to excpect a fair deal. He has every right to protest (freedom of speech) and I, amongst others wish him all the best. This could have happened anywhere, not just Cyprus, and I am sure that he would have protested just as loudly had this happened in England, France or Spain. GOOD LUCK Conor!!!

tessintrnc,of course Coner has every right to protest and stand his ground. What i am saying is that the general public in the UK hearing of this protest will generalize and take it that buying property in Cyprus can be risky(which in the majority of cases it is not).
The UK public will not take this protest as an isolated and very unfortunate incident which happened to Conor himself.

Hey O!

Cyprus needs this service to weed out all the 'water wasters' and 'horrible hosepipe horrors'!. Do you have the number please? :lol

My wife volunteered for the CAB, as an advisor for many years, she was then trained as a full time paid specialist for them, but had to leave due to ill health. Oracle she would never lay into people like you do, infact neither would any of her old colleagues, whom all believe in no judgemental advice (perhaps you should remember that), I have pulled out of a purchase in CY because of bad lawyers (recommended by a friend in CY, who is no relation and has no ties other than using them himself), I tried to get redress, cost me £500 in fees and I may as well have beat my head against a wall, a similar thing happened in the UK, I got redress easily using the Office for Supervision of Solicitors. The contracts both here and in CY and they were appaulling, so it is not just CY that has poor lawyers, but the system does nothing about them. We have a place in CY and I know of several expats and Cypriots (In our street alone) who have never got their title deeds, this is a matter for senior officials, it has been going on for decades and if not sorted will cost CY dearly, lets be honest tourism is already crashing through the floor.
I agree that the Cyprus problem is important, but everything else cannot be ignored.
