Property Protest London during President Christofias’ visit

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Morning all,

Just a short update
Yesterday went very well.

Image

We didn’t see the President ourselves but hundreds of guests came past our protest stand and accepted leaflets. Some were shocked at the severity of the cases represented but few were surprised with problems like the issuing of title deeds as their own families had fallen victim to this trap. We were highlighting a broad range of issues and it would be great to have the future support of the London Greek Cypriot community and yesterday was a nice introduction.

As I hinted at earlier even before the event the authorities had taken notice. If I hear any further feedback from the authorities I will announce it with their permission.

Here are the Banners that were shown.

Conor.
PS. Thanks for the individual posts of support.

What a pathetic bunch of misfit Dial-a-Mob ..... Quite makes me "Homesick" ....

Well, have you got it out of your system now Conor?

Because from what I've seen those "details" that usually lurk in the background may start emerging.

How long are you going to continue to bad-mouth a whole country calling it "Corrupt Cyprus" for Conor?... with so little "evidence" based on your one iffy encounter ....

Is it Millions you're after? What is the full extent of this extortion we are witnessing being orchestrated before our eyes?

Don't leave us with so many questions now you have opened Pandora's box .... Do tell?

Are you likely to do the decent thing and accept the return of your money if you are not happy to have neighbours? Or have you been bitten by "Celebrity" status?

Good for You Connor.

I was thinking of buying property on Cyprus, (my parents have already retired there) but reading your story put me off the idea completely.
After coming across your Lyingbuilder site(which then brought me here), whilst looking at property on Cyprus, i couldn't believe what i was reading.I also can not believe, some of the comments that have been directed at you on this forum! I thought Cypriots were famous for their friendliness & hospitality?
If I was in your shoes, I would also be trying to do everything I possibly could to get Justice, so keep up the good fight & don't let these heartless p****s get you down.
Best wishes to you & yours.

Good Luck.

.... so that's how you "fudge" statistics ...

I counted about 18 adults and a dog

People walking past do not count as supporters

Admit you are onto a big scam Conor to extort money from this builder! ... and you don't care what you are doing to Cyprus ... holding the whole country's reputation to ransom for your blackmailing money grabbing plan?

Maybe you are "Crafty Conor the Blackmailing Brit."? .....

Expats take property protest to London
By Jean Christou

A GROUP of British expats frustrated with the judicial system in Cyprus protested at Alexandra Palace London on Sunday where President Demetris Christofias was addressing a gathering of UK-based Cypriots.

The protest was led by Conor O’Dwyer, 38, from Surrey who bought a house off plan in Cyprus in 2005 and has since entered in to a lengthy legal battle with the developers.

Unable so far to receive justice in Cyprus, O’Dwyer decided to take his protest to London during Christofias’ visit at the weekend. Holding placards calling for justice and an end to corruption, the protestors camped out in front of the venue.

O’Dwyer was joined by the relatives of expats in Cyprus who are also experiencing legal difficulties over properties they have purchased on the island. Problems include non issuing of title deeds, structural faults, illegal building, or developers extorting immovable property tax and transfer fees, they say.

O’Dwyer said yesterday the protest went very well.

“We didn’t see the President ourselves but hundreds of guests came past our protest stand and accepted leaflets,” he said.

“Some were shocked at the severity of the cases represented but few were surprised with problems like the issuing of title deeds as their own families had fallen victim to this trap.”

He said the protestors were highlighting a broad range of issues and said it would be good to have the future support of the London Greek Cypriot community.

“Yesterday [Sunday] was a nice introduction,” he said.

O’Dwyer was badly beaten in Frenaros in January this year after taking photographs outside the house he owns in the village. The developers who sold him the property, and with whom he is engaged in a legal dispute, were later arrested and charged with assault. O’Dwyer, who details his entire case on the website http://www.lyingbuilder.com, spent over a week in Larnaca hospital.

Protests/London.Mmm,

Postby kade1 » Tue May 20, 2008 3:58 pm

Whether you agree with the protesters in London or not (about property dealings, titledeeds etc.).Is it not making the UK public aware and/or concerned that there could be problems when buying property in Cyprus.

Problems buying property in Cyprus=less sales...........less sales=a drop in property prices..........a drop in property prices=the very people protesting and owning a property in Cyprus could be contributing to thier own property devalueing.

Is this not a tipical catch 22 situation, what is the answere.
