According to many, Turkey caused the troubles in the ‘60’s, undertook two invasions in the 70’s and continues its occupation of the north, all in an effort to prevent ENOSIS of Cyprus with Greece.

Although not endorsing the means, we have to thank Turkey for preventing what would have been an untimely calamity.

We now have ENOSIS with Greece as EQUAL sisters in the EU ...... and with the benefit of TWO vetoes .... all thanks to Turkey, without whose help, we may have ended up with only ONE veto.

They shall be used to good effect to veto Turkey for-ever-more out of Europe, and in any resolutions to withdraw the troops from Cyprus etc.

Moral of the story:

Turkey don’t force your will on others, as alas it my backfire on you.

Greeks and Cypriots: when you thought all was lost and a door had shut, a big French (EU) Window was opened in its place.

So all shut up now please about Cyprus wanting ENOSIS with Greece ..... done and dusted.

Well Oracle, if EU membership equals Enosis, then we have done it with 26 other nations and not just with Greece.

True about what you say re the two votes and two vetoes though. Like the Art of War says, loss of territory is not the same as defeat, nor is the gain of territory same as victory.

On a serious level we should encourage and support Turkeys' membership ambitions while insisting that she also meets her obligations to the EU . We need Turkey to join the EU and do so quickly.

Nikitas it dos not matter if ENOSIS-EQUALITY is with one or more nations ... the important thing is the equality notion and being part of a greater whole ....

Turkey did not really care whether Cyprus wanted ENOSIS in the past with Greece, or Italy, or France or Timbuktu ... they just wanted to keep Cyprus isolated and small and vulnerable ... all that has now withered ...
