How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

DEV-IS AND PEO REMAIN COMMITTED FOR A FEDERAL SETTLEMENT

Postby halil » Fri May 02, 2008 10:08 am

The Turkish Cypriot trade union DEV-IS and the Greek Cypriot trade union PEO have jointly called on workers to maintain the common struggle towards a united Cyprus.
The two trade unions held a joint press conference to mark the 1st May Workers’ and Spring Day which took place at the headquarters of the Cyprus Turkish Public Employees’ Union.
`We remain strongly committed to a bi-communal and federal solution to the Cyprus problem. We welcome the new solution process on the island` the unions said, calling on the two leaders in Cyprus to work for a solution in good faith.
DEV-IS President Mehmet Seyis noted that it is also the 60th anniversary of the joint resistance put forward by Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot workers against employers in 1948 where some workers were killed in clashes.

Mr Seyis said that a joint poster has been prepared within this context.
He said a documentary film, which has already been shown in South Cyprus, will be screened in North Cyprus in July and a joint concert will also be performed by Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot artists to mark the anniversary.

Very pleasing news Halil , I'm extremely happy that Cypriot artists will get together and perform in a concert. Long may the workers remain united , they are the backbone of our Cypriot family life and culture. United we stand divided we fall.

a small info that apparently has not reached the pro-CTP press.

there was not only one , but two 1st may workers day celebrations.
the second was of course not organised by the tc right wink groups (what would they have to say about 1st of may?), but from a different kind of opposition to talat....
