No I have often described the massacres in fitting terms. And just as often mentioned that these massacres were happening an equally horrible massacre of GCs was going on AT THE SAME TIME in Afania. Sevgul Uludag documented it in her articles. So there could not have been the excuse that it was payback for Maratha and Tziaos. They were simultaneous acts typical of fanatics on both sides.

As for the GCs having a policy of exterminatin TCs is it worth recalling that Makarios was horrified at the suggestion made by a Greek officer, Papapostolou, to wipe out TCs and had him sent off the island.

Nikitas the fact is that what they did is vandalism. It's just the word "ELLAS" that shows there motives. I personally think they got off quite easy, 875 TL fine for damage caused and 1000 TL each for bail. They were lucky their trial and sentence was carried out very swiftly.
