Worse or equal to Denktash. For some reason Denktash prevailed though.

May I remind you that he is the one who started the idea of the enclaves in preparation for partition. He used the money they got for the British in settlement of ALL land disputes in Famagusta to massively buy land north of Nicosia upto Gionelli.

So MicAtCyp you feel there was no need to retreat into enclaves? TCs were perfectly safe living amongst GCs, my family lived through the period and I can assure you the fear was very intense and GCs turned against TCs. We could not freely speak our language or visit certain areas of Cyprus, dont you think that ironic maybe the current situation is payback time.

Difference is that Kücük had the balls to hang around in Cyprus during the troubles, when Denktaş fled to Ankara, wherein he made all the contacts that would support him in power for the next 4 decades. From the very little I know about him, Kücük was also a staunch opponent of colonialism during the late 1950s, helping to organise and participate in anti-British protests (this according to a number of articles written by Sener Levent), at the same time Denktaş was busy assisting the British clamp-down during the EOKA campaign.

Oh man you are too harsh. You cannot change the fact that T.Cs and G.Cs were very happy till the Turkish army came. Remember they were hugging and crying when T.Cs were `forced` to move to North.
