I used to consume these like it was my last day on earth. Now, I dont even like them. Is it because 'I is diabetic?' or is it just sour grapes?

The Chala/cagla dipped in a bit of salt. Yummy. Mind your BP though. I used to eat them fresh from our trees till I got a tummy ache.

Have you tried the 'badem macunu', a kind of Marzipan, home made. No wonder I love the smell of Benzaldehyde in the lab.

One of the great perks of having moved out here is getting fed homemade keftedes (cypriot meat balls) by my mum on a regular basis. My favorite of all foods mmmm

The first time I made lokma, I proudly gave some to my elderly neighbour who promptly dipped them in a glass of water. I thought that this was some sort of strange tradition until her daughter explained that her mum was diabetic and had to wash the syrup and honey off, she was too polite to refuse them.............
