Actually, our prices include VAT, so there is not that much difference. Our on-going costs are lower, and include VAT - plus the switch on/off option - and 50% more speed for 15% less.

I am currently working on a cheap USB solution - initially with Latsi Marina for the Boat visitors, but can expand later. I have Z-Com designing a USB stick at present. Costs will be about €50 for the stick, and €11 per week.

It would only be a short-range option about 1-2km's from the hotspots due to power limits.

internet wifi access over cyprus

Postby CITYCELLHOTSPOT » Sun Aug 30, 2009 7:56 pm

Hi
there is a solution for broadband internet now wifi
no need for telephone line.
and no need for contract , pay as u use
u may pay monthly /3month weekly etcc.
we have 2 choices in cyprus now
citycell is the first prepaid internet card system
we have prpaid cards covering wifi some parts of cyprus , all u have to do is to search for citycell on your wifi laptop and if you manage to find it means you can use prepaid cards ,u can connect and open your enternet explorer to find details.
another option we cover a huge area in cyprus for wifi fixed internet , ie: we can install antenna on your roof and connect you with our network , and you may pay when you visit cyprus minimum1 month. but u have to pay first for instalation and setup visit www.citycellhotspot.com

CityCell Prepaid cards

Postby CITYCELLHOTSPOT » Sun Aug 30, 2009 8:44 pm

One more important option is that you can use Citycell connection prepaid cards all over coverage area.
u can use it in limassol , paphos , larnaca and any area you find citycell hotspot with the same prepaid card, the coverage will be all over the island in a year time as mobile coverage.

How did you get over the legal issues of outdoor power limits for 2.4GHZ? I tried to do this 2 years ago and the Dept of Communications would not license any of my hotspots with an antenna greater than 2db gain, so had to ditch the idea. In fact, they were so strict, that even my indoor hotspots had to have non-detachable antennas (just like the Speedtouch modems). As far as I aware there has not been any regulatory changes since then, it is still a max eirp of 100mW.
