If we move to Cyprus, we only plan to be here for six months a year. And we will need to rent a car. Any suggestions?

I don't want to pay regular rental rates (for tourists who are here for one month max), which are quite high.

I'd seriously suggest buying a used car, or a 'grey import' which can be picked up for a reasonable price. I would imagine that it'll be a heck of a lot cheaper in the long-term than any rental car. If your place in Cyprus is by the sea though, make sure you've got somewhere under cover to store the car when you're not using it as it will rot like crazy.
