More than the oil crisis and the fact that the price of the world's staple food, rice, has risen by more than 100% in the last year, I am worried about the corrosion of the English language - hey it is hard enough to learn in the first place!

Last evening, just before a film started a warning flashed up to say it contained 'sex' and 'one instance of moderate language' :-(

But what they mean is the film contains 'moderate' language throughout, apart from one instance of bad language; so they are saying the opposite of what they mean - media types huh!

lana PS Plus the price of Rolexes is about to rise again for non-Euro countries - it is a cruel world!

Last night we just returned from a shopping trip from Istanbul. The main news item there was the price of rice which has risen so much that the poor peasants will no longer make their fav. Pilaff. As a result they have announced that there is not enough Lentils grown to compensate for this. They are trying to urge the peasants to increase lentil production.
