An interesting footnote, its funny how the whole leftie versus righty rule still applies. When I got it done the piercing girl asked which nipple I wanted it in, to which I replied the right. (Its an aesthetic thing, I'm a righty so I tend to prefer most things to the right). She gave me a meaningful look at which point I asked whether there were any connotations to having it in the right, which there were...I hastily asked for her to do the left one lol

i went thru the same thing when i got my nose pierced. and i don't care what people think of me because i pierced my nose. it's MY nose after all, and i like it!

my choice of haircolor does that for me.
in fact, the whole idea of me not dying my hair, and letting it be it's natural color, which is now grey/white/silver, really bothers ALOT of people. i nearly lost my best friend because of it. personally, i admire a woman who allows her hair to grey naturally. and i find it very sexy and well-adjusted.

I've often wondered, isn't it a nuisance when you have cold?

On a more general point, men with earrings is like any other fashion. On some it looks great, but on the many who can't carry it off for one reason or another but are just following the latest fashion, it looks awful. Think mini-skirts, pony-tails, boob tubes, platform soles, flares - almost any passing fad you care to add.

Hair colour, I agree. I think when you get to a certain age colouring does look odd. I have never had that problem my hair went grey at 17, fortunately it hasn't started falling out yet.

Thats sad to hear GG. I take it from the "nearly" that all is now well with your friend? I just don't understand people who can get so wound up over something as trivial as hair colour? Even worse are those who are "offended" by such things.....to quote the great Frank Sinatra "I did it my way!"

i am very seldom sick.... so no, it isn't a nuisance. and i can take it out if i had to. i have lost many more earings than i have nose rings.

as for your general post, i don't know how old you are, Observer, but men have been piercing thier ears for decades, perhaps even centuries. that makes it alot more than a fashion statement.

yeah, she finally got over it and accepted it, but there was a period of several months she wouldn't talk to me because of it. she kept pushing me to either color it or get a wig. and this from a woman who is more than 10 years older than me. i think it just reminded her that she is old (like me) i am proud of my grey/white/silver. i have a story for every one of those hairs!

I recently celebrated my 25th and to mark the occasion, my goatee spontaneously sprouted my very first white hair....guess I'll have to think of which particular tale applies to it ;)

be proud of it, Hobx! the salt and pepper look on a man is acceptible, and i have always found that to be exceptionally attractive and sexy.
