Hi greek.god

In the paper (Cyprus Mail) today it states that:

'Drinking water will be supplied through the main network to all water supply authorities over the Easter holidays, without the cuts imposed to tackle the shortage due to the protracted drought.

Necessary arrangements have been made with the water boards to obtain water from government supply systems so that there will be no cuts from today until Easter Monday'

The article is a little longer, but I think this is what you wanted to know.

What on earth has a period of time such as Easter got to do with the suspension of the water cuts.

I would have thought if Cyprus was short of water it was short of water irrespective of whats being celebrated.

Sounds like mr president is trying to appease the masses without any thought for the waste of water.

8) It is indeed true.. you can tell by the sound of the karcher pressure washer staccato bursts intermingled with the sound of tinkling silver droplets of a hose being used elswhere that my local neighbours are very happy with the news......and as usual are practising the traditional art of the Cyprus shrug in the face of crisis....or as is sometimes said in the UK by lower orders - F**k you Im alright Jack!!!

8) but wait! it could be a health and safety requirement so there is water available to douse the flames of the bloody great piles of wood shortly to be set alight or sadly the skin of those who have been burned or injured by illegal firecrackers....

My fathers Cypriot neighbour has been washing his two cars. A lovely man, he is now washing my fathers car, without a care in the world..
