Bill ,
we can learn lots of things from eachother .
According the book called Eski Lapta (Old Lapitos) ve (and) Eski Laptalılar (Old Lapitos Habitants) writen by Esat Faik Muhtaroğlu (book 1)

troubles, complaints between two communities started earlier than 63 in Lapitos . This one is very new for me . This complain of the TC's published at Nacak news paper dated 13/10/61

GC's of the village were getting permission to open (drill) well for their lands without problem from the ROC government and TC's of villages they couldn't get permission ,no one was listening their complain.

they started to complain this things in the newspaper pages as well that government should also send Turkish İnspector to village to investigate the complains with GC inspector .

Writer says it was very important issue was this at first days of the ROC.

above writing is translated by me from page 52 of this book .

Greek Cypriot complains started from 1570 when your forefathers set foot here uninvited.

You still haven’t told us WHO gave you permission to come here…

Kifeas ,

you asked me how TC's left the Lapta in 63 .

According to book page 45.

when the troubles started at 21 december 1963 all around the Lapta village roads were closed , all the roads were under the control of the GC's . Nearest village for Lapta (with TC's population ) was Vasilya village ,they couldn't even communicate with them .Under these condition they send 2 men to Kyreania to find out what's going on and what they can do ? These men were İbrahim Nidai and Sefket Kadir they never achived to return back to their village .Since 25 december 1963 they are in missing persones list .

they are dissapear made the people of the Lapta to left their homes to go for secure places like villages called Agirda ,Bogaz ,Fota and some of them went to Nicosia as well .

now it is discoverd that they have been killed in the village called Ayorgi next to Karavas and their bodies thrown in to lime pit .

May be you will not know İbrahim Nidai and sefket Kadir ; Kifeas but your parents will know them .

how can you live in a village if such a things happening .... ofcourse u can run away for your and family safety . you don't listen or wait TMT or others to tell you what to do .First your life comes .

Any kind of discrimination of the sort Halil claims happened in Lapithos (or elsewhere of course) is utterly condemnable. (imo).

Well then quit moaning about 63 or any other year from the past for that matter. Just as you don’t feel responsible for anything that was done to the indigenous Cypriots all these centuries why should they give a rat’s arse about a bunch of criminals who came here uninvited to kill and steal, and who are apparently STILL causing trouble in their homeland?

The problem for us is not the past Ottomans but the current GCs who have shown they are still racist vegence seeking people who stop at nothing to eradicate the island of its TC population, thats why sageguards are paramount to ensure the mistakes of the past are not repeated.

In this book not everything is about bad days ..... lots of things are in it .

about waters of the Lapta , hand crafts of the Lapta . lemons of the Lapta .... Kifeas rights to think about his village ....

but how ....how ..... we can built up the trust !!!!!!

how people are acting one sided and not leting the others to have the equal share of the natural sources ......

have a looks family arguments as well ..... my mum or dad loves him better than me ..... look he has got most valuable land , am i stepped son ?

very difficult ....
