/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Cypriot Orthodox Church decided to bring a legal action to the European Court of Human Rights against Turkey over demolition of historical and cultural heritage in Northern Cyprus, occupied by Turks.

“The decision is final. Lawyers of the Church are ready to institute the case. Presently, we register the Church property in the land cadastre,” said Chryzostom II, the Archbishop of Patriarchia.ru reports.

Some 550 churches have been desecrated since Turkish invasion in 1974. Some 15-20 thousand of icons have been stolen and presumably sold. Many churches have been transformed into mosques, barracks, morgues or storehouses.

Those that do not respect even the most basic Human Rights are hardly likely to have moved into the sphere required to respect the culture and heritage of others.

The longer the north of Cyprus is left under their occupation, the more they will destroy and eradicate. That to which they take a fancy, they will claim as their own, and through their practice of Historical Revisionism it will pass into the folds of the Hun .....

A concerted attack to nullify these atrocities is required by the ever growing list of victims of the continued abuse by Turkey of its neighbours.

Sadly today we remember the Armenian Genocide. :(

Wiki wrote:The date of the onset of the genocide is conventionally held to be April 24, 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Istanbul.
