What is all this about cypriot student's protesting about the new university procedure of selecting students?

Are they just upset because daddy can't pay someone to get them in, or the faculty presisdent, who's a cousin of an in-law can no longer pull strings to get them in.

Don't they know that to be a doctor you actually need to write exams..

French students protested because their teachers took a pay cut, some got fired, etc... now that's something to protest about!!!

The way students get in the public university is with exams. Nobody can pay to get them in or pull any strings.

so why protest now that they have to get good results on internationaly prepared exams?

And I heard that some student's parents do get them in by paying someone, or contributing to the universities..

Because those exams are in a foreign language.

Maybe this is what somebody that didn't manage to get in told you.

So what about all the other countries who write the same exams, I don't see them taking to the streets protesting.. skipping class because they think it's for a good cause.
And most of them either finish off their degrees in England anyway, so the language is not a good debate point.
