Umit, you should read "Dialogue", the tri language newspaper. In the Friday issue it reports of a meeting between Christofias and representatives of Turkish Cypriot Government Organisations. Christofias said he was willing to accept 50 thousand settlers remaining after solution. This is what precisely Christofias said: "During the Annan Plan period the Turkish Cypriot side gave a list that included 42 000 but this number would eventually rise to 116 000 if their families are included. We cannot accept this. I am ready to accept a number that would limit the settlers that stay to 50 000 persons in total".

After this report by "Dialogue" the views of Christofias were put to the Government Spokesman who said that for some years now, despite our position of principle that no settler would remain after solution, we have accepted that some settlers will stay and their number cannot exceed 55 000.

Now you can direct your stupid questions at your democratically elected President, Kifeas.

Interesting to hear Bananiot. When we look at the numbers there are around 120k TC's and 60k mainlanders with TRNC citizenship the rest of the people on the island are students from Turkey ( around 40k ) and people on working permits. So in the end all TRNC naitionals would have citizenship in a new state.

Is there any news on the topic of "power sharing" from Mr X ? If the power sharing is dealt with, I can say that we will end this dispute for good.

They are keeping their mouths sealed on this one. I have some friends who are in the working groups and the technical committees. Perhaps I can get some inside information later. Seriously though, I think its best if they are left alone.

Perhaps Christofias is not as stupid as we all thought! This Turkish settlers aspect alone is enough to send the BBF where it belongs to pave the way for bigger and better things... :)

I think this might be a good sign Bananiot. Talat doesn't seem very optimistic though, I don't know why.
