Up to a point well said R&S, except it takes two parties to make a bargain. You will know a good many have bought land that didn't belong to the seller and which belongs to a rightful owner who was forced to flee at the time of the Turkish invasion. Are you able to shed some light on why they do this? Did they buy stupidly, as you say? Have they decided to take a calculated risk? Why do they do this?

I'd like to hear your views on this from your position in the occupied north.

PS. There is no "greek" owned land in Cy - In the main, Cy land is owned by Cypriots.

i think lots of them have taken the chance for investment, as if you get a copy of cyprus today news paper you will see them moaning about everything, its clear they don't like cyprus. some people ran from other countries to avoid the law. some are just stupid and didn't know any different. lots of brits here are of pension age and they trusted the lawyers and agents. some of us spent 3 years finding the right property, and sleep well at night! we have turkish cypriot friend in the uk so we did get some advice. the estate agents only want to sell property built by the developers cos they get better commision, they don't care about what land the propertys on. if a house comes on to the market we always ask our friend in the village, he knows whats what and if its in places like karmi, he would advise to avoid it as it was probably left by a greek cypriot owner. so not everyone here in the north is dealing in greek cypriot owned houses. lots of people in my village would be happy for a cyprus solution.

I totally agree...don't know about Bondi though...I prefer Melbourne beaches, and I don't mean the bay...Colder yes but in my opinion cleaner especially the western side, Lorne way...

Great surf...

trust a victorian to say that!! cleanliness in sydney is on par with melbourne (if we take botany bay and cronulla out of the equation). Between the two cities i think we can find more than a dozen beaches better than anything cyprus has to offer..i dont think much a beaches that dont have white sand.

True our beaches rock...

What I don't like is surfless beaches...love the surf...

And don't get me started on the fishing

Boomers,
Another thing we have in common, im an addicted fisherman also. Dont know how your summer was in Melbourne but this year i managed to catch several Kingfish upto 80cm long and several Jewfish upto 15kg's. Even though the summer wasnt very hot, the fishing was great. How did you fare in Melbourne??

Excellent mate...excellent...

This year I didn't do much sea fishing and the truth is not very good apart from a few atlantic salmons...I was chasing trout instead which I neglected for some time now...I managed to get a fair few 2 to 5 kgs wading a few isolated streams...Catch and release of cource....

I think fishing in Sydney is much better than Melbourne...

If you ever get a chance lob over to Darwin and fish the bay...The best fishing ever...Fishing on top of the mangroves at high tide is a total buzz...as long as you don't stick your feet in the water...

I'll keep that in mind, and if you ever visit sydney during the summer months you have to go up the coast to port stephens, the best marlin fishing other than cairns. I have managed a couple of striped marlin over the 100kg mark. It took over an hour to bring them to the boat but the biggest thrill of my life, absolutely buggered afterward though. In the winter yellow fin tuna is great fun too, but they only get to the 40-50kg mark in sydney.
