Just what we need in this water shortage!
Hope you are not affected too much! Remember to take it easy and keep up with your water intake - sips only mind you!!?

Heat and dust over coming days

THE METEOROLOGICAL Services yesterday warned of high temperatures reaching up to 36 degrees and dust for the next three days.

“Unfortunately, the general circulation of the atmosphere helps in the transfer of dust from Africa,” said Kyriacos Theophilou, Director of the Meteorological Service, adding however, that the dust appeared not to be very thick.

“On Wednesday will be the peak of the weather for April, we will have a heat wave of 35-36 degrees. From Thursday the high temperature will begin to recede and by Easter Sunday the temperature will be back to normal for the season,” he said.

more desalination plants are on the way ;) Until then island or no island it doesn't make a difference :( But I hear that in the future wars will be made for water not for oil! That means that having sea around us and desalination plants it will be a big plus :D But that means Cyprus might attract more invadors! :(

Soto it is very expensive to desalinate water and it tastes weird since it does not have the same minerals as in drinking water. In a place like Cyprus we would need to increase electricity production quite a bit , which means burning a lot more oil. I hope the pipeline feasability project for water from Turkey , which is near ending produces positive results for the islands sake.

Is it true that Cyprus produces most of it's electricity by means of oil or something?
So this is why the price of electricity has gone up so much and due to increase gradually till it reaches its 40% hike?

why not import from niger or some country in North Africa that produces it there?

I am not a big fan of desalination, however, if sea levels are rising due to the ice melts, wouldn't it make sense to desalinate so that we keep sea levels low?
