The Turkish Cypriot Flag...

Postby gomesilva » Tue Apr 22, 2008 3:36 pm

Just curiosity...
A friend mine, cypriot, said me that it is the Republic of Cyprus that supplie electricity to the North of Cyprus, it`s truth?
If it`s the truth... as if conjugates this subject with the pride demonstrated for the north with this enormous visible flag in all the Nicosia at night?

They did sell electricity to the north when there was a crisis, and they may still sell to border villages, but they SELL they don't give. But nevertheless it was a very decent thing to do considering the relationship. Lets hope that if the water pipeline from Turkey ever materialises, the North will aid the South by providing water.

ok... good explanation.. anyway... I´m not imagine Portugal and Spain (example) with problems, but Portugal SELLING electricity to Spain... just to Spain have a Flag to show all the spanish pround...

But ok... if you came to Portugal.. in general... if you ask about Cyprus.. people will tell you... "oh yes... the aphrodite land".. or "oh yes.. the land with a giant flag"...

....

I see the flag is famous in Portugal. Maybe we should be using it as a tourist attraction, from what I've heard it is the size of three football fields. The funny thing is that is looks a lot bigger from the South.

I think it is becoming one, whether people like it or not. Maybe it will be replaced with a big Euro flag one day - you never know!
