Bringing my dogs out

Postby nigeyboy » Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:50 pm

They're coming over for 2 months in the summer. Any recomendations for who to use to get them from Manchester to Paphos.

Thanks

That's a hell of a lot of money to spend just to have your dogs with you for 2 months .
Plus the implications of the pet passport etc.

Are you sure they will cope with the heat in the summer? Manchester summer is a lot cooler than Cyprus!!

I agree with Tess…

To me it seems unbelievably cruel to put dogs through such a journey for two months in the heat of summer... :x

I totally understand your need to bring your dogs with you nigeyboy. You should not worry about the summer heat. I have seen huskies in Nicosia and they did not seem to mind. What dogs are they?

A question for the administrator:

How can I use this photo of my Stacey as an avatar?

Please dont do it. The welfare of your dogs should come first. Loving your dogs is one thing, putting them through the travel and the Cypriot summer for two months is another. Take very good advice from the people who know best.

Regards.

When we go hunting in Greece in September we carry half a gallon of water per dog. When half the water is gone we head for home.

Heat is an enemy of dogs and you have to be on the lookout constantly for signs of heat exhaustion because the dogs themselves will not know it. And hot cars are the big problem, a real danger.

Its bad enough for dogs that live here year round - but a 2 mth visit from cool weather to blistering heat may be too much for "visitors" to cope with.
