windsurfrush wrote:0-3 cases per year? Who told you that? I strongly suggest you get in touch with the Veterinary Government Services in Cyprus before making such false statements. They would be more than happy to tell you that all forms of animal cruelty happen on a regular basis! There have been THOUSANDS of cases reported over the years. And the fact that you are trying to divert the attention away from these crimes by pointing your finger at other countries is just insane. I can think of at least six cases of animal cruelty that took place in the last 4 months. There is no denying that animal abuse takes place in ALL parts of the world, but in most civilized countries there are laws that were formed to protect the well being of animals and those that break these laws are severely punished. And rightly so. Noone should inflict pain on any animal, and noone has the right to take the life of a cat or dog! It is wrong, and this does not need explaining. There are FAR too many cases of animal cruelty, when considering the population of this small island. If the authorities had punished the perpetrators, it would make other like minded criminals think twice before throwing a cat or dog a piece of poisoned meat. And Gorilla Gal has a point... the police authorities do not take this kind of thing seriously!
I admire people in other countries that stand up to their governments to take action against all forms of injustice. Only we can make a change! Your opinions 'Get Real!' disgust me... and I advise you do exactly what your name suggests and realise that Cyprus is less than perfect! Stop being so proud!
Remember, two wrongs do NOT make a right.

In her haste to help animals, Elena Theodosiou (the petitioner) made the foolish mistake of singling out Cyprus despite the fact that far more animals are getting ill-treated every year in “civilised” countries like the US and UK! I have posted links a number of times on this matter and today I bring to you yet another animal horror story…
In some states of the United States, it is actually legal to have sex with animals (bestiality) and here’s the evidence…

This is a small sample of the kind of SICK people you’ll find in the “land of the free” !!!
So to Elena Theodosiou I say… campaigning against animal cruelty is an honorable thing but please do it right!
Regards, GR.
