BOF wrote:8) silly old faggots! thankfully the same mr Flowerdew is still a panelist on gardeners question time on radio four...i like to listen to it occasionally and remember how i used to struggle to get plants not native to the UK to grow.....but now i sit here with my little garden in the sun with a Guava tree lemon tree and a mandarin tree amongst others and smile..Although with the rate that things grow over here its so wasteful that there are no local composting facilities...would save the council thousands in planting soil and compost to maintain the fancy roundbouts. - could even flog it to local golf courses!
Sorry to hear about the demise of your worms Deniz - boy i bet that did pong!!!!! :D

Before I ever noticed it, It was located under the kitchen window. I asked Ann if she had been encouraging the fox again. She said no, she had not seen Mr. Bush for a long time. So I investigated where the 'pong' came from. There it was. Thats when we moved it. What a pong that was.

  That's better than 'Damn you dog, get under the table!'

Back home in Blighty where garden waste is composted it is recommended that after putting the garden waste plus newpapers etc into the compost bin the enzimes needed to start the process off are to be found in male urine.....and it works! everything rots down to a really good compost.
Recycling garden/plant waste is something the E.U. is quite hot on so expect it to happen here sometime in the future

Must be better than a wormery. What a waste of money they turn out to be. Should sign a petition for cruelty to worms.

Take it yours did not work then Deniz?

Because of the unpredictable weather, we attempted to put it in the shade, so ended up in the shed. Next day we had a heat wave, and I think that killed them off. Not before we got a litre of liquid manure and a great stink. It was a birthday present for my wife (not from me, I must add), I think the instructions were translated from Chines. It was all Greek to me, too.

Poor worms :(

Poor worms indeed. Our 'mad house' is reknown for its love for animals.
I can not show this post to Ann, as she alreadyblames me for 'ethnically cleansing' the worms. I only wanted to move them from direct sunlight. This was last summer and we know what sort of summer it was. Even my loquat gave fruit and flower (the other way around of course).
