The sad case is the main destruction of the island, lies with developers, to much building, to many deliberate fires and no real thought for the future.
Nobody was aiming any blame at Cypriots, but were just explaining what the majority see and hear. You have an unfortunate record of blaming the British for all your woes. Maybe you should wear the T shirt that goes with your dislike for so many people.

Imagine a UK city of less than 1 Million facing a war against the might of Turkey, being partitioned, having to re-home a quarter of its population and then find the means to re-establish animal welfare, conservation and such like ... it would take them more than a few decades I can guarantee that.
The Fisheries Department are an excellent case in point and through their efforts and the support they give other groups, the turtle populations are recovering faster than imagined possible so that now sharks are re-entering the eco-system ...... All good stuff.
