I 100% agree with this statement.

The only solution is freedom for Cyprus, democracy and human rights for all Cypriots. The TCs being a minority can also have the additional minority rights as given in every other democratic country.

What if the Turkish Cypriots insist that as Cypriots amongst Cypriots they are not a minority . They are ONLY A MINORITY WHEN THEIR ALLEGIANCE IS TO A FOREIGN NATION , AS CYPRIOTS THEY ARE IN THE MAJORITY.
If we recognise all people of Cyprus as Cypriots , then we are all the majority , nobody refers to the Welsh or the Scots of the UK as minorities enjoying full minority rights , why should the T/Cs be a minority if they chose to be Cypriots first and foremost, and I believe that the overwhelming majority of T/Cs see them selves ( just as I see my self as a G/C but primarily a Cypriot ) primarily as Cypriots and Cyprus as their nation.
Let us hear from some of our T/Cs on this forum on this .

They are a minority when they are Turks and Muslims and they are the 18%. That makes them ethnic minority. Check out the definition: Ethnic Minority: A person or group of people who have a different culture, religion or language to the main one in the place or country they live. For sure they have different language and religion, and their language and religion is not the main one in Cyprus. So they are a minority.

I too do not like divisionary labels which permanently "fix" people into one category or other.

The only ties to a place would be whether you legally own a piece of land there or not. There will be no borders and people will be free to go where they wish.

At the moment Cyprus is polarised to this future goal at the opposite extreme. Mostly due to the Turks who insist on increasing borders, demanding recognition for some uniqueness, when in fact thy are just like everybody else ... a bunch of individuals.

Therefore for a step forward, what they bring to the table should be a willingness to engage in the real world and accept they are no better than anybody else and get stuck in to making the world a friendlier place ... with less soldiers.
