Piratis,
What are you suggesting ? That there is an acceptable age for rape ?

No rape is acceptable, but I hope you agree with me there are different degrees of crimes.

There is a different penalty for a person who murdered once, and a person who is a serial killer. Similarly there is a different penalty for somebody who raped a 30 year old woman and somebody who raped a 12 year old girl.

Piratis

I'm genuinely interested in the way that you write your posts. When you write something such as
that show the conflict which you started in 1958
[my italics] do you really mean the poster in question, in this case Marataga. Lots of your posts say that "you" started a conflict or that "you" - your interlocutor - murdered or massacred people.

In this example you wrote "that show the conflict which you started in 1958" even though a few lines earlier you'd dismissed Murataga as an outsider. If he was outside how could he have started the internal conflict in Cyprus ?

Piratis,
I see, the un/acceptability is geared to the penalty/punishment, rather than the act itself. It deserves an explanation why typical penalties for rape are typically 'U' shaped by age i.e, relatively high for girls and young women, moving to a lower rate for young and middle age, and increasing again for old age. Apart from the fact that convictions for rape are extremely low, that most rapes are carried out by men known by their victims, that the legal system deters the reporting of rape, and that most rapes are within marriage, it seems to me that differentiating penalties on the basis of age of the victim (not the perpetrator) is indefensible.

But this is not the subject of the thread.

You refers to the Turks and TCs in general, and in particular those that support the actions I refer to.

Outsiders unfortunately have invaded Cyprus and started many conflicts. If that didn't happen then there wouldn't be any conflicts and no Cyprus Problem.

I hope your questions are answered.

If 'you' refers to Turks and TCs (not the same, surely) in general then how can you make individuals responsible for the alleged crimes of others ? Just because you are GC does not mean that I can hold you responsible for, let's say, the killing of Cypriots in Nicosia in 1963. That would be tantamount to a false charge.

And where did I make any individuals responsible for the crimes of others? I simply refer to historical events, and I explained to you the context of 'you'.

If I held Murataga personally responsible for murders then I would demand his punishment. I didn't do that though. What I demand is democracy and human rights for all.

On the other hand, Murataga demands the collective punishment of all GCs based on his own distorted version of history. Therefore your lectures should be directed to him and not me.

I'm not lecturing you Piratis. I was asking a question. I was interested in how you used the term 'you'. That's all. If someone writes 'You started it .... in 1958' and follows that with a demand that I make amends or that I acknowledge responsibility but that actually I wasn't even born in 1958 then I think I'm entitled to deny 'starting it' or bearing responsibility for the actions of unknown others.

Come now Copperline , you know full well the usage of "you " by Piratis was not meant to be directed at a specific individual but used in the same context that a black man would say "you are responsible for all of Africas problems etc...

You also apologise for forcing a divided country into the EU with all its problems and then expecting the EU to come up with a magical solution in the GCs favor.

Here you go again VP , MINORITIES !! What on earth are you suggesting the ROC government does , kill a few hundred thousands of G/Cs or perhaps force them to emigrate so that the population of Cyprus becomes numerically equal ?
What is this imposition of will entail , one man one vote maybe ?

One country 2 equal communities under a BBF with political equality, simple really.

VP, please read my proposal again.

yeah well why is your leader and his masters stalling then. Gee I wish you guys will wake up and realise that you are your own gaol keepers. Wouldn't political equality assume one person one vote?????

Not sure if you are interested in this but I'll say it any way. We have just recenty had a change of government from afascist liberal one to a labour government.

This weekend the prime Minister invited 1000 volunteers to converge to Canberra to discuss ideas and future direction of the country. The liberals called it a farse and gave lots of flack to the Prime Minister for holding this day.

It was al televised andI got bit here and there. I was so proud to be a wog Australian more than ever to hear people sharing their goals and aspirations and expressing how much they felt part of their country.

The most inspiring thing I heard was the Prime Ministers second in charge speech and she said by 2020 whether your name is Smith or Ho you will have the opportunity and the challenge to run the country. That VP is political equality. The great thing about this great country that I live in is that if I chose to do so I could become the next President because finally we are having a Republic. (Go right ahead trash it in your attempt to crash me but that is the stark reality - none of the crap you are promoting about separation, and exclussion based on language or religion or minority status).
