Precisely, so if anyone wants to benefit from the reconstruction of Famagusta should contribute towards it. No contribution, no benefit. Simple formula.

Maras is part and parcel of the bigger deal in order to resolve it as in the AP you have to have a comprehensive solution as if it is given back without making any progress on the overall solution whats the use of giving it to FCs, do we just hope for the best? cant see that happening can you?

what are FC's? Fucking Cypriots?

Freedom is in your hands all you have to do is agree a BBF with political equality solution as stated by the UN.

Absolutely. Equal rights for all. No special treatments.

Varosi/Varosha/Famagusta - a negotiating card ?? The rightful, legal owners will get it back in return for recognition ?? I call it and the ethnic cleansing that went with it the spoils of war, plain and simple.

If there are any brains left anywhere on the island, they would realise that initiating the Famagusta reconstruction project will push aside all foreign influences. Just imagine a project that would employ tens of thousands of Cypriots every day for years to come. No one would dare stand in the way of the people working there, not for one minute.

The impetus provided by such a large joint project would be the start for a solution. But the brainless ones see it as part of the final solution. And the reconstruction will eventually involve foreign firms using cheap immigrant labor while Cypriots stand by the sidelines twiddling their thumbs, or something else.....

Talking to French engineers recently I was fascinated by their knowledge of the town and the details they had taken into account over such things like the demolition of the buildings and recycling of concrete, metal and glass. French firms have planned for mobile recycling units to deal with such projects. Apart from Famagusta is there any other in the Mediterranean? Have we planned for it like foreigners do?

Why don't we all just go over there and walk into the place?

Then start clearing the weeds and junk away, invite the world media and the Turkish Cypriots and anyone else who wants to give us a hand. What are the Turkish Army going to do-shoot us all down,or come and join us for an EFES at the Sandy Beach hotel bar?But we'll pay in euros, not T.L!

If Talat does precisely as cymart suggests, you would be surprised how many Greek Cypriots will shout "foul". In this gesture they will see an attempt to erode the fighting spirit (?) of the Greek Cypriots so that we would be prone to saying "yes" to another foreign-conceived plan, like the Annan Plan.

Four years ago we failed to understand the radical changes that were taking place in Turkey and light-heartedly dismissed them as another communications ploy of the dreaded Turks. Hence, we allowed the train of history to go past us, in the words of Greek Prime Minister, Costas Simitis.

Already, DIKO and EDEK, partners in the Christofias government, are openly critical of the new President on three fronts:

1. They have raised their voices on the content of the 21 March agreement.
2. They disagreed with the opening of Ledra (Locmaci) Street.
3. They disagreed with the people appointed for the Working Groups and the Technical Committees because some of them were supporters of the Annan Plan.

The difference now of course is that these parties tend to lose their bite when not controlling government.
