Internet prices..

Postby Kristianikos » Thu Apr 17, 2008 2:02 am

I heard that in Cyprus to get a good internet connection the prices were high..

I was recently checking the CYTA net website and it shows INSANE figures of like €4000 per month for only 8mb connection ??

Why is it so much O.o

source: http://www.cytanet.com.cy/Services/pric ... elist.html

In the UK for 20mbps it's only around £40..

I'm pretty sure i haven't asked about this on here before.. but i could be wrong.. something in the back of my mind says i have O.o

It's possibly the way we write our prices as we don't use a decimal point (ie €101.50 is written as €101,50).

The prices you are checking are about Leased Lines. Cyta doesn't offer 8mb on DSL. You can get unlimited 10Mbps from Cablenet for €100 and that includes cable TV also. But Cablenet is available only in a few places. In most other places you have to settle for 1-2Mbps for around 50 Euro.

Internet prices are without a doubt very high in Cyprus.
I have 2Mb/s connection which isn't fast, but is definitely adequate for 60 odd euros a month including phone line rental etc. For Cyprus this isn't too bad, though elsewhere this is shocking
Luckily though there are no download limits like there are in other countries
