acceptable EU limits or excuses?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

acceptable EU limits or excuses?

Postby Eric dayi » Wed Apr 16, 2008 3:11 pm

I thought what aleXXis said in another thread is worth it's own thread for discussion.

The RoC is not the first country the EU cautioned Deniz, that's all I'm saying. Of course there is an issue in both Cyprus and Greece, but it's within acceptable EU limits

Is this a case of the so-called "RoC" and Greece can also do it because other EU countries do it too (which BTW doesn't sound too good for the EU)?

Or:

Is it a case of aleXXis admitting that torture and corruption is legal in the EU and is "expected" and "acceptable"?

Or:

Is it just a case of trying to excuse the corruption and torture in the so-called "RoC" and Greece by blaming others for the wrong doings in the so-called "RoC" and Greece?

Your thoughts please.

... or is it a case of you trying to stir it up?

I've read the article and I saw some mistreatment reported certainly, but not what I would call torture, and no sign that it was state policy.

I think that it's a shame that some people seem to go out of their way to comb through newspapers to try and find some unflattering reports about some people of the other side's behaviour and then post it as though it were state policy.

I found it objectionable that the report of the poor Italian girl who was murdered found its way onto the forum under the heading "is this typical Turkish hospitality" (or something like that). I find it equally objectionable that a report on mistreatment in a GC prison should be reported in this forum with such glee.

I have always found Alexis' postings reasonably put even if I don't always find myself agreeing with them. Although he might have expressed it better, it seems to me that what he has said is that you will find examples of mistreatment in all countries' prisons, and that this treatment should not happen, and in this case it does not appear to be too serious. I agree.

Wasn't the RoC one of the "busiest" stopovers the CIA used in order to transport unlawfully detained people to its torture camps which are mainly located in Europe?

Torture is nothing new to the GC's, the hospital near Lefke, Cengiz Topel, has been dedicated to the pilot which crash landed into GC controlled area and is where the pilot was tortured to death, his pictures are still there along with the remainings of his plane.

But again, they are quick to go around blaming the Turks for torturing PoW because they are just ever so "barbaric"!

Sorry mate but you are wrong. No one needs to "stir it up". This forum and others where Greeks and GCs post are testament to that.

If you don't need to, why do it?

Have you been around for the last week or so?

Glass houses and all that?

Maybe retaliation is one way of stopping the anti-Turkish/TC/TRNC bigotry and racism?

There are many, many other reasons too.

I chose this song because it has a special meaning GR.

As you know, you Greeks and GCs used to play this song to us TCs for years not believing that Turkey would come and save us. The rest is history as they say.

Now it's our turn to play it to you.
