Cyprus tourism on downward spiral.

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I think for the average British person Cyprus is expensive. For a weeks stay in the Four Seasons, you can stay in Meerufenfushi in the Maldives for two weeks.
Yes prices are higher, and the majority of British who have frequented the island for the last fifteen years have been the budget traveller, and they notice a huge difference.

because i work in the hotel industry, i have to say that i do feel that we are on a downward spiral. One major influence being the lack of customer service.. nobody really cares about the guests anymore... managers are so busy on porn sites, or sleeping with all the foreign girls..

It's really a bad environment to work in. they don't pay alot, they treat their staff like dogs, so staff work grumpy, sad and moody. there's hardly any good training given either..

oh well it's life, and we live it  better than the othe option

The ambiance by the sea is second to none . Also very good is the Apollonia but recently they do not allow children under the age of 10 , at least last year they did not , and I

The Hillview in Pissouri for Sunday lunch is great and much cheaper. Next time you're here we'll book it! :D

Kurupetos says ' just leave', etc if you don't like it! Why is it that one cannot express an opinion, without being dismissed?

I came over from Zimbabwe to England 25 years ago and made derogatory yet valid comments about the UK and was told 'go back home then'! So typical of the uneducated who cannot take constructive critism.

We all have our points of view and opinions which should be respected.
We may disagree with others but let's offer a sensible argument rather than have to read ' go home'!

Cyprus is not the 'be and end all' - it has its downfalls like all countries - look at Zimbabwe now. Glance at UK if you can bear it. I have to live here till I retire to Cyprus - if there's any water left, that is.

Derelict of duty of behalf of the Cypriot Government - too busy rubbing their palms with glee waiting for foreign suckers to invest in their badly
constructed buildings and ripping them off, rather than confronting a major problem like providing the basic necessity of water. I'm one of those suckers, however, I have enjoyed my many visits to Cyprus and can emulate my past lifestyle. I will be watching my back though after joining this Forum!

Shall I go home now???
:)

Welcome mate , Cyprus is about the best of places to be in Europe right now. The weather is brilliant , the people are hospitable and mostly friendly , and the Traffic Wardens haven't yet assumed control of your daily lives . I swore at one the other day , he couldn't understand the meaning of THE WORD wanker !!! Had to spell it for him.
Seriously though I think Cyprus on balance offers a quality of life that would be hard to match elsewhere.

Zimbo, welcome. I am just kidding, but seriously if someone believes that Cyprus has so many cons why shouldnt he leave and find a better place? That's what I meant. Sitting here moaning about everything...what good will make?
