I can see why you reside on Mars !!!
I live in the UK , I'm also very critical of many aspects and would be offended if anyone suggested that I should go else where if I was not happy here.
The crunch of the matter is that Cyprus needs the tourist Industry flourishing not diminishing.
On the subject of prices I agree that in comparison to restaurant and hotel costs in the UK Cyprus is considerably cheaper. On my last visit to Cyprus I most definitely noticed the increased costs of shopping but on having a Sunday buffet lunch at the Amathus was rather pleased that a very sumptuous 3- course meal with a couple of bottles of local wine came to under £100 stg for two people. Taking into account the fantastic ambiance of the place , the sea view etc then it was a bargain.

£100 sterling?

ok, £10 bottle of wine x 2 = £20 that works out at £40 a head. How often can you do this?

Not really a bargain mate, is it?

Do read the post Simon...

[quote="purdey"]In comparison to a hotel in the UK it is a bargain. I paid £30 for a cooked breakfast in a London hotel last month.

sorry.[/quote

Not the cheapest place on earth though is it?
If I have a cooked breakfast out when I am over home it never costs more than a fiver!

Location, location, location!!

As often as time will allow me Simon , I run a business www.devonscatering.co.uk and I work six days a week from 8 am till 6mp without a break , this allows me to indulge in a little treat for my self and my wife.
I eat in good restaurants and I'm guilty of spending up to £100 or more per head . About a year ago London Park Lane Hilton had an ongoing Sunday lunch special which consisted of a full buffet hot and cold , dessert and coffee and UNLIMITED CHAMPAGNE all for £49.95 Per head.
Other Hotels copied such as the Lanesborough alas they no longer have this fantastic offer.
Eating in good restaurants in London is very expensive so when you compare the cost to that of any 5 star hotel in Cyprus , then Cyprus is a value for money . There are some pretentious restaurants in London that charge the earth for a mediocre meal and get away with it because they happen to offer River views of the Thames !!!

I have tried most Hotels in Limassol , the Amathus Sunday buffet is the best , I think they charge 35 euros per head , this is for cold starters including Med.Prawns , Smoked salmon and much much more , hot meals consist of 3 roasts with all the trimmings as well as many other hot dishes .Desserts are plentiful and the service is excellent.
The ambiance by the sea is second to none . Also very good is the Apollonia but recently they do not allow children under the age of 10 , at least last year they did not , and I

All good mate if you live in London! If CY was more expensive than London then I would worry.

1000's of people dont live in London. Therefore, for other people visiting CY it is expensive
