More light shed on the events of 1963

More light shed on the events of 1963

Postby Bananiot » Wed Apr 16, 2008 10:22 am

Demetris Christofias was the first RoC President who admitted publicly that both communities are to be blamed for the tragic events of December 1963. Until then it was solely believed that in 1963 the Turkish Cypriots performed a mutiny against the Cyprus Republic and that the Greek Cypriots simply fought back to preserve the unity of the island.

In today's "Politis" newspaper a former EOKA member and now a retired teacher sheds more light on the events. He recalls that in November 1963, officers of ELDYK and the Cypriot army, recruited all 120 male students of the Cyprus Teachers' Academy (bar one who was thought to be leftist) and were told that they would be trained in the use of arms because on December 25 there will follow an attack on the Turkish Cypriots that would result in the annihilation of all the Turkish Cypriots so that enosis would be declared. "Not even one Turkish cat will remain alive" they were told.

The above are written by Christos M. Savva, from Lysi.

So 120 teachers would annihilate all TCs?

Your Turkish propaganda gets worst every day. Did they give you a raise?

Stop saying crap that are not even theoretically possible. What is possible and what in fact happened, is small Cyprus being invaded by 10s of thousands of Turks, who kill Cypriots by the 1000s in order to enslave us and take our lands. This happened many times in our history, last time being in 1974.

1963 was the second phase of the conflict which TCs started in 1958, when they attacked us, coordinated by the British colonialists, so those foreigners could once more oppress our rebellion and deny again to the Cypriot people their freedom and self determination.

Nobody said that GCs did not participate in that conflict, but it is a fact that TCs are the ones who started it, not in 1963 but in 1958.

Had the TC minority and the foreigns who are behind them (UK/Turkey) accepted to finally allow the Cypriot people to decide the destiny of their own island in a democratic way, instead of trying to force us their own will, then non of those conflicts would have happened.

As I said many times, we never ventured out of our island to harm anybody else. The only thing we did was to rebel against those who invaded and occupied our island, demanding our freedom and self determination. Thats our right and it will always be our right, and we will apologize to nobody because we were not the good slaves they want us to be.

With such a great plan it sounds like Christos M. Savva would be lucky to point to Cyprus on a map...

Αλλά, στο κάτω - κάτω το πραξικόπημα έγινε και τελείωσε το 1974. Η κατοχή συνεχίζεται ακόμα. Και αν πρέπει να αντιμετωπίσουν κάτι οι Ελληνοκύπριοι και οι Τουρκοκύπριοι δεν είναι το πραξικόπημα, αλλά την κατοχή. Το πραξικόπημα θα το αντιμετωπίσουν σαν ένα ιστορικό γεγονός, αν θέλουν μπορούν να το παραδώσουν να το αντιμετωπίσει και η δικαιοσύνη. Αλλά η κατοχή, η παρουσία δηλαδή στον τόπο τους ξένου στρατού, που τους κρατά ομήρους και δεν τους αφήνει να ειρηνεύσουν, δεν είναι ιστορία, είναι το πραγματικό τους πρόβλημα. Δεν το αισθάνονται πια, τόσο το συνήθισαν;

Its amazing how you can fit this RUBBISH into the same thread that also blames someone else for propaganda.

What I said is very accurate. Where do you disagree exactly?

One thing is to say what Christofias said, that GCs also committed crimes during the inter communal conflict, which is something true, and another thing is to try to blame the intercommunal conflict on GCs, when it is a fact that the inter-communal conflict started in 1958 when the TCs attacked the GCs as part of their agreement with the British Colonialists to defeat the liberation struggle of Cypriots.

This is a clear sign of what was in store for TCs something which you continue to ignore to this day and infuriates us as facing such danger cannot be swept under the carpet, the above post shows how blind you really are and why we need plenty of safeguards to ensure tu are forced to comply with any new agreements.

Nobody can force us to be slaves VP. You tried for 3 centuries, then the British tried, now you are trying again. As long as you are trying to enslave us and steal our lands we will keep fighting. Didn't you realize this yet?

If you want a permanent solution and peace that can come only when all foreign troops leave from our country, and Cypriots are allowed to rule their own island in a democratic way. "Solution" and peace via our capitulation will never come.

Even when the facts are there for all to see you still try to lie.

officers of ELDYK and the Cypriot army, recruited all 120 male students of the Cyprus Teachers' Academy

120 teachers? What about the "Cypriot army" and the ELDYK officers mentioned?

Do you need new glasses or a new brain?

This is part of the story why we don't trust you.
You even lie about your aims. I never heard or saw any slogan in the 1950s except enosis. Nothing about Cypriots or liberation. After the truce and the Constitution of 1960 you tried to bring it about again by violence in 1963/4, and again in 1974. By economic means inbetween. Since at least the 19th Century GCs have been trying for enosis by one means or another. Everything you say convinces me, and according to a recent poll 97% of TCs, that we must have guarantees backed, if necessary, by a country willing to use force.
