More light shed on the events of 1963

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

"Well you can't have it both ways ... if you believe in the Akritas Plan then you believe Makarios signed under duress and pressure "

I believe Makarios signed it in bad faith. I don't see how that contradicts the Akritas plan. The Akritas Plan is evidence of Makarios' bad faith and intention not to keep the agreement.

Much of the subsequent problems in Cyprus spring directly from the refusal of Makarios (and most of his government) to work to an agreed compromise. Not only did they refuse to work to it, they immediately set out to undermine it as the Akritas Plan and subsequent activities make clear.

It is a trait of Makarios and most subsequent GC politicians to think themselves very cunning and clever, when in fact they are very easy to see through. Only the blind patriotism and obstinate refusal of many GCs to see anything other than what they want to see stops them from being laughed out of their own country.

EOKA's struggle was for enosis not for independence. After independence the majority of EOKA members swore to God to carry on the struggle for enosis and the rest you all know.

It is true that Turkish Cypriots could venture out of the enclaves but they did so at their own peril. Some never returned.

What I fail to understand is why people are so afraid to admit things in order to finally bury the skeletons we have in our closets and look to a bright new future for all of us. The only way I can interpret this behaviour is if I assume that these people do not want a solution because of racist bigotry that has probably been incorporated into their genes by fanatical school teachers (we have a plethora of those), the church and all sorts of nationalists.

Bananiot,

If ever I get the chance to meet you, I hope you will allow me to shake your hand and give you a bear-hug as a fellow Cypriot brother.

Long live all the Bananiots.

Well Bananiot I think that the Majority of GC's know all the stuff you complain of them denying. It is simply not in their "national interest" to own up to it . Which I believe is a sign of not beinging sincere with their intensions.

Dear friends, you would be surprised how many Bananiots exist in the Greek side. Simply we stayed silent for too long.

Yes Bananiot but it seems like the new generation is evolving into something much worse, what do you think?

If only Bananiot, you are out numbered by GCs like Piratis, Kifeas, Kikapu, Sotos, Oracle, growuptc, DT to name a few against who we would not stand a chance. In a way I thank them for showing what we would face in a united Cyprus, they fuel my belief that there will never be a solution, and the only real solution out there is agreed partition.

To name a few I said, these people out number honest people like Bananiot who tell it as it really is, no sane TC would want to put their future in the hands of this mob, you help prove my point that you cannot trust or share a country with GCs, keep up the good work, thank you.
