See this articlein today's independent...
It says...
"In North Cyprus only buy property with title deeds dated before 1974 or those that have been given to the vendor as part of the land exchange scheme, in which title was transferred from the original owner."

What is it referring to in bold? Surely that's not the standard legal advice?

you are right, I think. there is legislation I read about in the north to prevent Turkish Cypriots from selling or trading their land in the south, because many were given land when they were displaced. This is the land exchange program talked about, I suppose. however no agreement has been made to accomodate the displaced generally as Cypriots, which implies that ownership of the land in these cases is not credible.
