Too many pitfalls in your version of partition, why not make a clean break and not risk the problems or the TCs being reduced to minority status in a Gc state run by GCs. Lets allow everyone the opportunity to choose which state they wish to reside in and allow each state to go it alone, why not whats so bad about having the option? they can choose whether they wish to be a minority or a majority.

VP , you have always been obsessed with this "minority " thing , its a fact of life in Cyprus. The G/Cs are the majority , however to me and Bir the majority are the Cypriots !!

Its fine for you being in the majority, you have that comfort zone, what will you do if we are treated badly and discriminated against, even killed??

Think about asking the GCs getting rid of at least 100,000 of their immigrants as well and we will think about it!!!

When we return to the Cyprus Republic (to use your preferred term  ) their immigrants will be,our immigrants too. And out settlers would be their settlers...I am sure we can find a formula which is in the best interest of Cyprus and her people... :)

Because in your version of partition our ethnicity will be cemented in concrete, and we will never have the opportunity to become one nation of Cypriots above all else...This will ensure that the wounds of Cypriots will never heal,VP..Our bloody past will be revisited at the earliest opportunity...Time to be brave and make some sacrifices for the overall good of our motherland, and the future generation of Cypriots...

Presidential Spokesman Hasan Ercakica has critisized the Greek Cypriot Administration for trying to hold Turkey responsible for the non-solution of the Cyprus problem, at a time when efforts are underway to find a settlement.
The Presidential Spokesman said that the Greek Cypriot Side must prove along the changes it has made in its political leadership that it has changed its policies on the Cyprus Problem.

Speaking to reporters during his routine weekly press briefing, Ercakica pointed out that that the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Markos Kiprianu had made it clear he was determined to pursue a case filed against the European Commission with the aim of preventing the Financial Assistance Regulation from being implemented.

He said the move was a clear indication that the Greek Cypriot Side had no intention of changing its policies on the Cyprus Issue.

Touching upon the working groups and technical committees, Ercakica said that it was not determined as to who will be attending the meetings.

Ercakica however added that committee representatives from both sides will be getting together in the Buffer zone on the weekend for an acquaintance and introduction meeting.

UBP LEADER SAYS CHRISTOFIAS’S STATEMENTS `PROVOCATIVE AND UNREALISTIC’
The leader of the main opposition National Unity Party Tahsin Ertugruloglu has described the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias’s latest statements on the Cyprus Problem as ‘provocative and unrealistic’.

In a written statement issued today, the UBP Chief accused the Greek Cypriot leader of trying to poison relations between the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey as well as to impose Greek sovereignty on the island.

The UBP leader also claimed that the policy pursued by President Mehmet Ali Talat to counter the Greek Cypriot leader’s efforts was inadequate.

Pointing out that the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias desired the reunification of the island under a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation; Ertugruloglu said that a new state will not to be created on the island.

He argued that attempts were being made to assimilate the Turkish Cypriot into the so-called Cyprus Republic as a minority through a planned set of constitutional amendments to be introduced.

Ertugruloglu also said that the Turkish Cypriot people should defend and maintain their sovereign state as well as Turkey’s effective guarantee.
