President Mehmet Ali Talat has said he expects the start of negotiations to take place towards the end of June, unless there is no unexpected problem. Touching upon the Cyprus issue during the 40th regular meeting of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers, the President stressed that the Turkish Cypriot side has not observed the Greek Cypriot side’s firm approach of the past this time while working on the establishment of working groups and technical committees.
He added that the plan is to give a start to the work of these committees next week.
`If there is a real will, the Cyprus problem will be solved` the President added.
Noting that the solution of the Cyprus problem will have side effects on the economy, Mr Talat said the markets should get prepared for this.
`This process of preparation is not only in the hands of the government itself. The market, that is the private sector, should also contribute to this preparation. We need to perceive the country’s economy as a whole. We started the negotiations and we keep up with the work` Talat said.
