Greek style "democracy"

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You may say that they are the ones that attempted a coup against Makarios in 1974. I will tell you that it is the Cypriots that are to blame for the coup. Why, because some Cypriots wanted it and asked Greece for it. Greece just acted on it's self interest under the circumstances.

Greece is also responsible Paphitis. Why do you deny the faults of Greece at that time?. Greece was a guarantor acording to the Zurich Agreements and by following the orders of a terorist group EOKA Bs does not justify her actions. You are a big hypocrite to blame only a group in Cyprus and justifying Greece. Cyprus can defend its interest more effectively alone without the need of Greece . It can gain haiger credibility and give an example to the TCs to follow.

Because a terorist group in Cyprus wanted Enosis did not justify Greece to violate the Zuricj agreements.

So EOKA B did not represent all Cypriots, but a Junta imposed by the Americans represented all Greeks?

EOKA B did not represent the Governemnt at that time it was a terrorist group simple as that. The junta was representing the government of Greece at that time and hence responsible for what has happened.

The legitimate Greek government, the one elected by the Greek people, was overthrown by the use of military force, hence Greece was under MILITARY OCCUPATION during the Junta years. Was the Vichy regime the recognized government of France and its people during WWII?

Congratulations. I hope the occupation force in northern Cyprus never gains the foreign recognition that the Junta had  I wonder, though, if at some point the US recognize the "TRNC", will you too accept it as the government of half of Cyprus as you did with the Junta?

Get Real! wrote:I can’t for the life of me understand why there’s STILL a small minority of Turks living in Greece or the small minority of Greeks living in Turkey! I hardly think that a handful of people, who are obviously in the wrong place, should be allowed to be the reason for so much trouble between the two countries.

A citizen exchange program should be established between the two countries that properly exchanges and relocates citizens under the guidance of the UN.

I see no reason why millions from both countries should be put through so much trouble for the sake of a handful of fools who refuse to allow common sense to prevail!

If not most, at least some of the @Turk have been living there before the conquest of Constantinopolis. So you would rather deprive these people of their homes, Just great. Then you should stop moaning re:Cyprus.

GetReal is not a Greek so he gets no credit for inventing democracy, and he's certainly not allowed to twist its meaning
