What if Erdogan is overthrown, the Generals take over and double the Turkish troops in Cyprus. It may sound far fetched, but it's possible. And that's enough for Cyprus to be prepared

.....and pigs may fly. No way. Turkey needs all its forces to sort out their own probs within their borders. What do YOU think Turkeys aims would be to send more troops to Cyprus? This is unrealistic.

You know what they say my friend... "Once bitten twice shy" ...the Republic must NEVER be caught out defenseless again.

Ok GR, never worry you have the French to defend you.

How do you explain the above Deniz?

TRAINING DT, training.

During 1974 operations it was widely known that the Turkish army could not handle modern technolgy well. They need the traing.

I might give them some credit, but not that much. The way things are run nowadays they are a bunch of idiots. Turkey takes one step forward and two steps backwards. All because they want to appease the EU.

There's not a doubt in my mind that had the Republic had the fire power it has today, the Turkish invaders would now be sleeping with the fish.

That we will never know GR. I hope our children and childrens children never have to see war again. This can be achieved by living in harmony. I hope we are capable of this after an agreement is reached. Hopefully the presence of any military on our island will become unnecessary.

In the fifties I remember the training flight of the Hawker Hunters and the 'Electric?' fighters over our vineyards. Their purpose was not to kill Cypriots. (apart from the problem of the EOKA). You can train on 'dummies'. Is this is what is fed to the public in general? as a vote catcher?

There will be no more killing in Cyprus unless there is an 'idiotic' event.

How can it improve that quality of life?

Abandoning invading / occupying other countries would be a start ... leaving it to concentrate on internal matters.

Reducing its Military Might would do it a lot of favours ... leave it stronger not weaker. They would then have the required revenue to invest in schools and hospitals.

It already possesses potential .... it does not need Europe to help financially.

Why dont I trust your crocodile tears oracle?  (highlights)

Cyprus would have been a Greek province then.
