Become Master of the Wind ......

Postby Oracle » Fri Apr 18, 2008 8:16 am

Hello Bir dear ....

BirKibrisli wrote:My anger,if you can call it that .....

I thought you knew me better than to assume my provocations are purposeless.

I suppose it's the purpose you are having doubts about and hence the anger.

Bir wrote:History is history.

Yes, History is subjective, and written by the Victors.

Which is why that piece written by Aristakes was so poignant. Because he was not of the victorious, but he managed to reach out from the past and make me feel the pain, sorrow and horror of what he witnessed.

Bir wrote:... ever find a solution...

Who knows from where the solution will materialise. :?

And what solution and for whom?

VP's solution for acquiring recognition for his desired partition?

Or my solution for a whole Cyprus, for all people, respecting its Democracy in order to live freely?

Options.

Bir wrote: .... intentionally,sabotaging ...

Of all the posters, I most advocate that all the voices should be heard ... I have never tried to silence even those who most oppose my views, be they Eric or be they yourself.

All are the same to me .... so long as we keep firing options, views and different angles from which to look at the problem.

I am not "male" enough to think only my views are right, and everyone who opposes me is sabotaging my "purpose".

I just talk faster/louder, and think deeper/harder. :D

Bir wrote: ... embrace each other as one nation of Cypriots,

Maybe we should be aiming for embracing each other as one Nation of Humans first, and then seeing ourselves as one small family within that.

Bir wrote:I am farting and pissing in the wind...

Is that the same wind that blows out a candle, but fans the bonfire .....

repulsewarrior wrote:the Turkish State is good at its External Affairs, and it has a long history refining their method. It is no different to any power that has sought to grow its own will using superior forces and acts of violence. This is not the issue. Only recently, has this Principal of an Individual, their Rights and Freedom been defined. It has followed with movements for the behaviour we call Human, resulting in acts of non-violence only recently having great success. If Turkey wants to be identified with this effort internationally, it must accommodate, then it must resolve to reform the elements of their politic which have the appearance of Intolerance, and which cause to many in its diversity so much suffering. The age of Nationalism has changed since Napoleon III, yet the identity in a language has been corrupted once again to sustain an ethnicity in its exclusivity. La France, and French are not the same, just as Turkey and Turkish are different. Ataturk like Napoleon unified his country by giving its citizens an identity to the land with their sense of equality, fraternity, and personal Liberty intact. They could remain German or Kurd, and they could be French and Turks, unlike the vision which is promoted today.

myanswer is a bicommunalbizonal model for Cyprus which can be emulated in Turkey, and in Jerusalem because it allows for respect and cooperation, by promoting the diversity of people as persons while, as individuals, their efforts sustain the Universal efforts of our betterment.

i don't find this enosis question too complicated. another Brit, lord byron was the genesis of this thought with the creation of Modern Greece, it goes back longer, and it remains complex, but in the context of Cyprus, the overwhelming majority being Grecophone, it was very much like a final frontier. enosis happened quietly and quite naturally the first of this year; that dream was realised, and we have become a frontier of Europe. umit and OP, if you love this island it is time to end the proxy war. tell each other you are ashamed of these relics from the past and you want to change. please read my proposal, i am for what OP stands for because i know what is right, a Unitary State, [(and i am for Turkish Cypriots being recognised as cofounders) because Cyprus is/was Turcophone as much as it is Grecophone]: this Solution suits the world, providing for an end to the isolation which grew from Intolerance in a manner which is Just and it is seen to be for Justice; as it suits us, the dwellers of this ancient land, as its Stewards, which may be mostly "Greek" and "Turk", but having needs more than this simple vision of things.

after all we are Cypriots, this island's dwellers: Cyprus is an island.

I have read this post of yours RW my dear!

Once in order to understand the words; a second time to gain the meaning and a third time because it is so well written.

Now I need to digest this message I've ingested, and absorb its components. Perhaps allow those building blocks to synthesise a novel part of me.

RW your posts are nourishing and they are helping me grow.

Really ... why spend so much on its Military then?

Lovely topic Oracle.

An idiotic country(goverment) which comes to mind is the RoC. Instead of pouring money in to the 'water shortage' problem(de-salination plants) it spends  millions on arms. For what purpose? To defend itself from what? Turkey? You are joking.

The majority of the world has also been a colony of one of the few powers, enslaved, with their richness stolen from them, and without the knowhow of running a country since for the most part of their recent history they were not allowed to rule themselves.

Thats not the case with Turkey though. Turkey was not even affected much by WWII as many other countries did. So whats the excuse for Turkey?

They will always remember the pack of wolves which tore the Ottoman empire to pieces. That was never to happen again.

SO are you saying
1) We shouldn't defend ourselves form turkey cause its hopeless, we don't stand a chance?
OR
2) We shouldn't arm ourselves because we are in no danger from Turkey?

Consider this... we can endure the water cuts but not another defenseless Turkish military invasion.
