Majority of the WORLD is made up of poor, uneducated, religious and backward idiots and that's a fact!

The majority of the world has also been a colony of one of the few powers, enslaved, with their richness stolen from them, and without the knowhow of running a country since for the most part of their recent history they were not allowed to rule themselves.

Thats not the case with Turkey though. Turkey was not even affected much by WWII as many other countries did. So whats the excuse for Turkey?

The above is what S. wrote.

Shah, it does not matter that someone is poor, uneducated, religious (yuk), backward and idiotic. These good people that you condemn have every right to enjoy their democratic rights to the full and to be treated as equally as you and I. Your comment is contemptible.

Erm, the recent collapse of the Ottoman Empire?

Consequent attempts by the "all mighty civilised" powers to be, who tried VERY hard to partition her? (maybe that's why military is so important in Turkey Phoenix?)

Poverty?

Islam?

Corruption?

IMF?

Piratis you are talking about Europe and the US, very well, now we are on the same wave length.

We know how a VERY small portion of the worlds population came to be so filthy rich so quickly and why the rest is still fighting to survive.

What is your point?

The EU countries and the US have robbed the entire world from their resources and future, and now they have the face to turn around and laugh at them for being poor?

What the hell is this, some kind of a horror film?

I thought Cypriots would understand this better than anyone, since we still seem to be in SHIT due to similar reasons.

I agree the "idiot" bit was not necessary but then that's what happens when you so enthusiastically take parts of my words out of their context and bring them to another thread for ridiculing, some people here seem to hold a lot of grudge towards me and towards Turkey, but i don't blame them either

Bill what you say is true indeed, but when you have issues like Islam that seem to contradict democracy on many levels, it is pretty hard to put to practice, as its evident in Turkey.

This is not the first time they are trying to close down a religious party yet they still seem to brag about how Turkey is one of those "rare" countries which can work the 2 together. Yeah right

Umit old chap, the rest of the world and I expect more of you than this. You are trying to defend the indefensible. This goes far, far beyond our little squabble in Cy. Shah's comments strike at the very heart of some values that I for one hold very dearly, that is, amongst other things, that all people are created equal and have every right to live as equals, irrespective of their colour, gender, sexuality, IQ, wealth etc. etc.

Shah's comments are of the sort that, if they go unchallenged, starts us off on the road to the death camps of the Nazis.

I beg you Umit, look and think again of what has been written and condemn it.

Too late to try the Cypriot sympathy card, shahmaran ...

Turkey has exploited, and virtually annihilated the rights of its neighbours for too long ..... and as you rightly pointed out, it is because it is full of "backward idiots" ..... And by that, despite what you meant ... I mean, the ones who are running that backward non-democratic country...

Turkey has put Cyprus in the "shit" as you say ..... but why should we now sympathise with our aggressors?

Shah old boy. Thanks for retracting the idiot bit. I think that is big of you. So few people here go back on what they wrote and withdraw it. I am feeling less angry now.

As for the moslem bit. Well, that's democracy, that's the will of the people, the simple majority of the people. There is a tradition in western style democracies that the ruling, majority party takes account of the fact that they may have been elected by a minority of the total electorate and they must take account of the views of the people who didn't vote for them.

Democracy is not infallible, it's not perfect but it's the best thing we have got and there are times when I think we rule ourselves on a light and a prayer but the alternatives are the foul regimes of the former eastern bloc with their thought control and gulags and present day China with its treatment of the good people of Tibet. At worst of course they lead, as I say above, to Auchwistz.
