GR’s trip to the mountains…

GR’s trip to the mountains…

Today was a great day for an outing so my wife and I took to the road and headed for the Troodos mountains. :D

The goal was to have lunch at “Kambos tis Tsakistras” which you’ll find at the end of our journey’s trail marked in blue in the west of the map. Kambos is a small, but cute village with a little river running through it and 3-4 traditional restaurants in the village square.

We had pork souvlakia, sieftalies, chips, and salad and it wasn’t bad really but the zigzag drive (just beneath the “808” altitude mark on the map) to get to Kambos was a 40 minute snaky challenge but with awesome views/scenery including the Xeros dam/lake.

This region is the eastern part of the Cyprus Mouflon’s territory so we were on the lookout for them but no luck today… :(

Sound lovely GR. I hope you had a wonderful day. I wish I was there.

I am getting withdrawal symptoms over Cyprus. I should start planning my next trip.

We were on the other side of the XEROS Dam today ..... :D

Looks like you were playing it safe with your scenic tourist route!

For Mouflon you have to get out of the car and restaurants ... and hit some Nature Trails ... :lol:

You will see some mouflon on the Paphos side of the boundary. Even the mouflon want to be Paphites. :lol:

I have a great photo my son took about a month ago ... a gorgeous specimen with amazing horns (.... and the Mouflon too :D ) ... I have it on my computer but I can't seem to transfer the document ....

Honestly the look in the Mouflon's eyes was so Cypriot ..... :shock:

It just said "Stay away from my indigenous women and ancient territory or my horns are going to make ENOSIS with your newcomer non-native butts !"

I guess they are the rightful owners of the island ...

Did you paste it in word or something? :? Ideally the file/picture should be a "jpeg" or name.JPG format for a compatible and fast transfer.
