Double sighting of wild Mouflon today ...

Off the beaten track between Stavros and Pomos, a wild young Mouflon bounded in front of us stopped, stared at us as we froze ... then a second one flew up the hillside and stood by his side, turned round and looked at us also .... until son screamed "Mouflon!" at the top of his voice at which point they both bounded off in disdain

The camera batteries had expired earlier, so no photo .... (Hubby can confirm)

Wild hare spotted galavanting around too.

Cyprus is great, eh!

How did you know the mouflon was young?

Was it also obvious that they were males?

I would have said they were probably only a year old as they had that freshness of youth, their colouring was bright (unlike the old beefy chap we saw last time); they were curious enough yet timid, once they had satisfied their curiosity. I thought from the impressive size of their horns that they would be male (hubby thought they were a "couple" ... but he is more of a romantic sentimentalist than myself ).

They really were a pretty pair, and I still feel privileged when I visualise the stare they gave us with their big inquisitive eyes.
