Putting down the cards

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Putting down the cards

Postby umit07 » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:22 pm

All the stuff going on with the CyProb I think we should all put our cards on the table, instead of pulling Poker faces at one another. Whatever soln that will ever take place will not be positive for everyone , but it should be acceptable in the end. So instead of bickering everyone lay down your cards.

Nice one Um but I don't think we need to see eachother's cards. We all know what everyone else is holding.

I think that to date (up to and including Ledra opening) there's been no money on the table.

I'll start with myself.

1. I don't mind if all the troops go back ( for both sides )
2.I am not against GC's taking residence in the North
3. I don't mind GC's getting back some of their property which has not been built on.
4. The veto thingy may we something like a majority on TC votes be needed on predetermined subjects
eg: Army matter , citizenship

What have we been playing for then?
Or who has got the cash?

I don't think so bill , the politicians keep on contradicting themselves.
Eg: The Greek side says all refugees go back but we all know that that is impossible and it will need compromising. Same goes for the settlers

What I mean Um is that to date if we're taking a step by step approach, we haven't started playing for the real money that is ending the embargo, direct flights, returning Famagusta etc.

Well bill maybe it's the the best way I think that small steps need to be taken before giant leaps. You gotta put down a few chips before winning any.

Sorry Um. You also ask who has got the money ? Both "sides" have got it in the ( very simple) sence that you have got what I want and I have got what you want. Time we started talking seriously in this step by step approach. This won't be settled in one big grand agreement (to my mind).

What did GC's think of th North before the gats opened in 2003? I heard that many thought we were living very primative lifestyles. For example when the gates first opened TC's couldn't spend more than 24 hours in the south ( or they would be fined by TC police ) and GC's who stayed th night had to show hotel receipts now you can stay up to 3 months anywhere without having any trouble.

I see we agree that it ain't gonna happen suddenly even ifit did that way there would be a lot of caos.

Got any ideas on the steps then?
Eg: Running the Nicosia airport together, increasing trade between both sides, running joint operations in the buffer zone
