Turkish Cypriot officer takes off uniform to return wallet to Greek Cypriot checkpoint

GREEK Cypriot police officers at the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint were astonished earlier this week when a Turkish Cypriot officer changed out of his uniform to return a wallet lost by a Greek Cypriot during a trip to the north. According to reports, the senior Turkish Cypriot officer arrived in plain clothes at the Greek Cypriot police checkpoint with his wife and asked them to return the wallet to its owner. It had been found in the north. It contained €250, two credit cards, a European insurance card and an identity card. The Greek Cypriot police thanked the Turkish Cypriot ‘second detective inspector’ and eventually located the owner of the wallet.
